Volunteer
Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the Wallowa County Humane Society. We cannot operate without the dedication of volunteers who contribute in countless ways, from foster parenting to working at the Re-Tail Boutique, organizing records, preparing grant applications, maintaining our online presence, and assisting at fundraising and outreach events. Every volunteer helps keep us going.
How volunteers can help
Volunteers are vital to the Wallowa County Humane Society. We are always looking for volunteers all ages, including juniors 12 to 17, interested in joining our volunteer family. You don’t have to be directly involved with the animals to help save lives.
Below are some ways you can help:
- Organize volunteers for our activities and working the Re-Tail Boutique
- Foster an animal in your home
- Assist with administrative tasks
- Help with fundraising events
- Promote animals for adoption
- Transport animals to vet appointments or adoption events
- Socialize with cats and dogs
- Photograph animals for adoption listings
- Assist customers at the Re-Tail Boutique thrift store
Our programs, events, and fundraisers also need volunteers. A selection of these include:
- Summertime Dog Washes
- Pet Therapy Visits to Wallowa Senior Living and Wallowa Memorial Hospital in Enterprise, and Alpine House in Joseph.
- Behind the scenes at the Re-Tail Boutique - cleaning, sorting and hanging clothes, cleaning the Catty Shack, and feeding cats and kittens
- Making phone calls from home
- Fundraisers…selling raffle tickets, bake sales, silent auction, Santa paws
- Barn sales
- Parades
- Help with Kids Movie Night
- Educational classes
- Adoption Outreaches
- Watershed Festival
- Wallowa County Fair
- Putting up flyers
- And more
